What is ATP Testing Used For?
While a surface may appear clean, is it actually clean? ATP testing detects the potential risk of contaminants on surfaces that are invisible to the naked eye.
ATP stands for adenosine triphosphate, a molecule found in all living cells, including active microbial cells, like fungi, mold and bacteria.
ATP testing is a fast, reliable way to confirm the presence or absence of pathogens living on a surface, and is a general indicator of the health and cleanliness of your environment. It’s an efficient way to verify cleaning procedures are working.
How to Do an ATP Surface Test
ATP testing equipment monitors the concentration of ATP as relative light units. The more light units, the higher the ATP concentration, and the greater the risk of pathogens present on the surface.
This state-of-the-art testing is quick. It takes less than 30 seconds to test a surface.
In order to get the best results, ATP surface tests should be done on at least five different areas. Identify the areas most likely to get contaminated and areas that will give you more confidences tat your cleaning routine is effective.
